Sidharth Malhotra was born on January 16, 1985 into a Punjabi family to Sunil Malhotra and Rimma Malhotra in Delhi. His father was an employee of the Indian Merchant Navy and mother is a homemaker. He has an elder brother named Harshad Malhotra who works in the banking industry.

He was schooled at Delhi's Don Bosco School and Birla Vidya Niketan, and later attended Shaheed Bhagat Singh College.

Siddharth who has no Bollywood connection, started his career as a model at the age of 18. He worked as an assistant director to filmmaker Karan Johar in the 2010 film 'My Name Is Khan'. As an actor, he made his debut with the 2012 film 'Student Of The Year', which starred Alia. He was noticed for his boy-next-door looks in this film, which garnered him many a female fan following.

He was later seen in films like 'Hasee Toh Phasee', 'Ek Villian', 'Brothers'. His last release was 'Baar Baar Dekho'.

Apart from acting in films, Malhotra is an endorser of several brands and products, such as Coca-Cola, Corneto, and American Swan.
