Actress Catherine Tresa, known for her work in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films, will make her Tamil debut opposite Karthi Sivakumar in the upcoming romantic-drama "Kaali".

"We have roped in Catherine for the film. I liked her performance in her recent Telugu film 'Iddarammayilatho' and therefore decided to cast her. She, along with a few other debutants from the film, are currently undergoing a month-long acting workshop," the film's director P. Ranjith told IANS.

The film, which will be produced by Studio Green, is expected to go on the floors soon.

"Karthi will play a character that resides in North Madras. The film will highlight what makes this particular character from that part of Chennai so special," he added.

"Kaali" will also feature Nassar and Balasingh among a host of debutants in important roles.

Meanwhile, Karthi is awaiting the release of Tamil films - "All in All Azhagu Raja" and "Biriyani".
