Hrithik's Greek god looks, Barbara's attire for 'Kites', courtesy Varma

Hats, rugged jeans and streaked hair to complement Hrithik Roshan's Greek god looks, and halter-neck tops, floral shirts and backless dresses for Barbara Mori - designer Suneet Varma says he put much thought into creating the look for "Kites".

"I spent a lot of time with director Anurag Basu to understand his vision, so in some sense it was a collaborative effort. I took a lot into account, from the mood of the film to the lighting and the colour," Varma told IANS.

In the movie, Hrithik is mostly attired in a rugged pair of jeans with cotton shirts in the hues of lemon yellow, mint green, earthy browns and topped with a waist coat.

In a few scenes, Hrithik sports floral shirts and that gives a very contemporary feel to his wardrobe.

Hrithik's blond hair streaks and the hint of a beard go perfectly well with his chiselled body.

"Hrithik is like a Greek god in real life. Making him wear a cool and contemporary look was really marvellous as he is so in tune with his wardrobe and appearance," said Varma.

He also revealed that the idea behind the wardrobe was that the actors should look hard and gritty, hence not much chiffon or georgette was used while designing clothes.

"I wanted the costumes to be contemporary, endearing and youthful. As the movie demanded the actors to be tough, we stayed away from romantic, flowing garments," said Varma.

Varma's wardrobe for Barbara, who plays a Spanish girl in the film, is equally impressive. She has mostly worn modern silhouettes.

The ace designer created knee-length dresses, halter tops, denim short skirts and backless dresses for Barbara, who looked stunning with minimum makeup and her green eyes did all the talking in the movie.

Produced by Rakesh Roshan and directed by Anurag Basu, "Kites" is a mega-budget venture worth Rs.150 crore in two versions - English and Hindi. It also stars Kabir Bedi and Kangana Ranaut and Nick Brown.
