Santhosh Subramaniyam

Santhosh Subrahmanyam, remake of Telugu hit ‘Bomarillu’, is a complete family entertainer with a mix of all emotions comedy, drama, sentiments and love. It narrates the story of a father- son relationship and also a charming love story of a cute couple.

Subramanyam, a successful businessman who cares for each and everyone in the family, is more like a sadist, does what ever he thinks best for them with out considering their likes and dislikes. Though his wife Lakshmi, elder son and daughters tolerate his behavior, his younger son Santhosh accepts it half-heartedly only because he doesn’t want to hurt his father. Santhosh, who never gets a chance to select even a shirt of his own, wished to make his own decision at least on two things, a career and his life partner.

He applies for a loan along with his friends to start a business, but before he could find a partner, his father fixes his marriage. Santosh is forced to agree for the marriage with this girl who also grew up under her father’s shadow just like him. But at the same time Santhosh finds his dream girl, Haasini, the daughter of a government employee.

Haasini a free and friendly character soon becomes friendly with Santhosh, who falls for her. Gradually their feelings becomes mutual. When Subramanyam comes to know about the relationship, he refuses to accept her. But Santosh manages to let Subramanyam allow Haasini to stay at their home for a week so that his family gets to know and accept her. She wins the hearts of his family members, but for some reasons she leaves the home.
Will Santosh life starts with Haasini ??

Though the scenes and picturisation are more or less the same as the original, the remake is remarkable and has a fresh feeling to it, thanks to known remake specialist M Raja.

As Haasini, Genelia who portrayed the original, does her role extremely well. She excels in scenes where her character tries to work out friendly equations with the members of her would-be husband`s family. Jayam Ravi has done maximum justification to his character as Santhosh and as usual Prakash Raj, as Santhosh`s father, gives a predictably good account of himself. Playing the role of Lakshmi, Geetha had done a very good job as Santhosh’s caring mother and Subrahmanyam’s disciplined wife. The other casts Sayaji Shinde (Hasini’s father), Kausalya (one of Subramanyam’s daughters), Sathyan (servant), Premji Ameran, Santhanam, and Sreenath (Santhosh’s friends), Keerath (his fiance), Vijaya Kumar (her father) are also apt in their characters.

The music of Devi Sri Prasad and the choreography in this movie are notable. By singing the song ‘Adada adada’, ‘Bomarillu’ hero Sidarth made his presence in Santhosh Subrahmanyam too.

Overall, the well directed film ‘Santhosh Subrahmanyam’ is a worth watching movie.
