Director Nemam Pushparaj's latest film Vineeth-Kavya Madhavan starrer 'Banaras' tells a love story under the background of Banaras.  Kavya plays the role of Amritha and this is first time she plays as a classical dancer in her carrier. Vineeth acts as Hari , a research student on folk dances. He is  the only son of a Malayalee professor who had been working in Banaras University. Born in Banaras,Hari was brought to  his father's native place in Kerala after the death of his mother. Later, his father was married to another woman, to look after Hari.

His parents want Hari to marry his niece Devu (Navya Nair) who is in love with him, but Hari leaves for Banaras to pursue his passion, folk dances, and meets a classical dancer Amritha during a function conducted by a Malayalee association. They became friends and eventually fall in love. 

The film includes an impressive star cast includes Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedumudi Venu, Devan, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Harisree Asokan and Suraj Vejaramoodu.

Banaras is produced by M.R.Nair under the banner of Kashi films. The film gives equal importance to music and dance. The songs beautifully tuned by M.Jayachandran to the lyrics of Giresh Puthenchery. Cinematographed by M.Sukumar, scripted by Cheriyan Kalpakavady and Minerva Release brought to the theatres.
