Saif Ali Khan, born to two very public personalities, has always merited attention from a curious public. Saif spent most of his formative years in a boarding school in England. He grew up to be a spoilt, completely wild guy as a teenager. At 20, he returned to India and decided that movies were the best option. However, his entry into films was a nightmare. Rahul Rawail threw him out of his debut venture, 'Bekhudi', criticizing him for being undisciplined.

While he was going nowhere professionally, his personal life seemed to be very colorful. He was involved with older women including Moon Moon Sen and actress Anu Agarwal. But he shocked his parents when he suddenly married actress Amrita Singh, who was over 10 years older than him. In 2004 they separated after 14 years of marriage and two children. Now he is dating an Italian woman Rosa.And this relation was broke up in 2007. Saif  is currently dating actress Kareena Kapoor.

With his chocolate-boy looks he became popular amongst teenyboppers with his debut film 'Aashik Awara' But this film failed to get him quality work. He was considered a terrible dancer and a poor actor. Things came to a standstill until Yash Chopra came to his rescue with 'Yeh Dillagi'. The film became a big hit. There was no dearth of offers and Saif signed film after film but none of his films did good business.

After his spate of flops, Saif retracted from public life and he suddenly became inaccessible and refused to sign any more films. But soon he made his second entry to films, he was not overexposed at all. He signed good films like 'Dil Chahta Hai'(2001) which became hit. The success of DCH proved his versatility as an actor. He looked terrific, and all that initial awkwardness had vanished. After that there was no looking back.

His next hit film was 'Hum Tum' , a romantic comedy. His performance as Karan in this movie was natural and his style was perfect for this movie. He got rave reviews from critics and this movie also fetched many awards including a national award for him. Then he took colossal strides in 'Parineetha'. He handled a complex role with dexterity and enacted his part with flourish. His awesome acting as a serious lover in the movie Parineeta won him critical acclaim. In 'Salaam Namasthe' he delivered a spirited performance and he had worked hard on his looks and physique. Now he is one of the sought after actors in Bollywood.

In the year 2006 he played the lead role in a offbeat  English film 'Being Cyrus', same year he also played a villainous role in the Indian Adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello, 'Omakara'. Saif consolidates his status as a realistic actor with these films. Be it 'Omkara' where as the cunning, devious, and calculating Langda Tyagi or as Cyrus the main protagonist in 'Being Cyrus', he shows more confidence and acting talent with each movie.
