Nadunissi Naaygal – As the name suggests, it doesn’t suggest anything at all… But go watch it & you will be greeted with one of the best movies ever made by Gautham Vasudev Menon – GVM till date, more to follow suit… Leave the cinemas, you are still haunted by the characters & incidents shown & depicted in the movie. They linger in your mind, for quite some time…
It’s a movie which speaks Tamil;
It’s a movie which initially happening in Mumbai;
Still it’s a movie which has a lot of happenings from the present days’ Kerala. The has relevance, esp. with the sad demise of Ms. Soumya during her return journey to home. We haven’t forgotten the incident wherein a guy tried to molest a 5yr old girl.
The movie opens with the younger days of the protagonist, who is witness to one such incident, which no child would like to be a witness ever to. He loses his father in a very young age & is brought up by a lady in his neighborhood He grows in age & so does the movie grows in pace to showcase one of the hitherto well made films on some of the dark sides of the society that we are in.
One of the prominent aspects about this movie is that, it DOESN’T HAVE A BACKGRAOUND SCORE! Yes, you have read that correctly, don’t you go back to re-read it again… Even though, this movie has a lot of firsts, like:
- The background score is absent completely
- The sound recording is done in an ultimately impressive manner, we do have a follower of Resul Pookutty
- The marketing techniques employed for this landmark movie in Indian cinema are really unique, as in its done thru, Bulk SMS pushes, Web based methods & social networking sites by Stikers & Crew, headed by Shaz Shabeer. Nadunisi Naaygal - A Prowling thriller
Nadunisi Naaygal is a new age thriller film written and directed by the classy Gautham Menon. This will largely deviate from what is usually expected of Gautham.
It is a kind of an experimental film about a psychopath who unleashes terror in women at night. It’s all about compulsive love and the violence associated with it told with a series of events connected by the protagonists.
The film will have four different stories happening in one night. The film was mostly shot during night and a substantial portion of the movie takes place inside a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). Manoj Paramahamsa of ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ is Gautham’s eyes in the film.
Sameera Reddy and new comer Veera play the main leading characters along with Ashwin who plays another important character. The hero Veera, who was an associate of Gautham Menon for six years, says that Gautham had to explain each and every shot to him so many times, that it was actually the director’s mannerisms which he followed in the film.
Nadunisi Naaygal will be of only 90 minutes duration. It will not have any song or music, not even background score. All are real. It is a novel attempt by Gautham Menon whose earlier films are known for their brilliant music also.
‘Nadunisi Naaygal’ is a bilingual also made in Telugu simultaneously and it is called ‘Erra Gulabilu’ for Andhra.
Sources say that the film is quite experimental in terms of screenplay treatment and characterization. Given the off beat images of the film before the release, the director asserts that it is not a low-budget film. Gautham says “I believe that it has got the budget it deserves.”
The film is planning to have only a limited release as it is said to be a “new age film for multiplex audiences”. But this may change when the film actually nears its date.
‘Nadunisi Naaygal’ is produced by Photon Kathaas and R. S. Infotainment. The trend setting film is expected to release in the feb, Movie marketed by Shaz Shabeer Strikers & Crew (Cochin).
