Condemning strongly the atrocities against women in the society, leading South Indian actress Meera Jasmine today said that severe punishments, including castration, should be awarded to the guilty.

Addressing a media conference, organised in connection with her latest movie "pathu kalpanakal" (Ten Commandments) she emotionally reacted against the atrocities against women and said the accused in such cases should be punished with the same pain that experienced by the victims in rape cases.

'While pronouncing punishments to the accused, the punishments should be like realising the same amount pain that experienced by the victims while raping. For not repeating such incidents of Soumya and Jisha cases, severe punishments, including castration should be awarded to the accused. If the pain known, not even a single man will dare to harass a woman,’’ she claimed in a harsh manner.
